A character with something to hide.

Darbyshire explores a historical thriller inspired by Norman Darbyshire and the 1953 Iranian coup. We develop the writing, characters and visual world together, using a cynical, intimate voice to take the viewer inside a dramatised account. The images are created scenes, not archive footage. The work keeps returning to the relationship between character and evidence. Scripts were revised to give the ensemble its own motives. Faces were rebuilt from historical references, and location masters became reusable settings for future scenes. Generative image work and motion development turn those choices into a film language. What stands today is a proof of concept for a series still in development.
